An incredibly touching Interview with someone who must be a beautiful Angel
Becky Martins is a Certified Master Gardener who resides in midcoast, Maine. In 2007, she and her family began building a living memorial garden in memoriam of patients who have died from medical mistakes, and in recognition of patients who have been injured and live with the lingering emotional and physical effects of healthcare harm.
The Garden is designed with four Sections of Flowers for:
- Children
- Spouses
- Elders (parents, grandparents, aunts,uncles)
- Friends & Siblings
Flowers are planted alongside the walking trail that leads to the garden in recognition of the contributions of individuals and organizations that are championing and advancing patient safety.
Flowers are added to the Medicine Wheel Garden annually on Patient Safety Day, July 25th.
To have a flower added, email: voice4patients@aol.com.
Becky is also a Maine Harvest for Hunger volunteer who grows and donates garden vegetables to local emergency food assistance programs.
